1. What is a Pre Existing Medical condition?
"Pre-existing Medical Condition" means:- An ongoing medical or dental condition of which you are aware, or related complication you have, or the symptoms of which you are aware;
- A medical or dental condition that is currently being, or has been investigated, or treated by a health professional (including dentist or chiropractor) at any time, in the past, prior to policy purchase;
- Any condition for which you take prescribed medicine;
- Any condition for which you have had surgery;
- Any condition for which you see a medical specialist; or
- Pregnancy - congratulations by the way!
This definition applies to you, your travelling party, a relative or any other person.
If you fit into one of the above six categories, then you will need to follow our online medical assessment procedure. Your condition could still be covered for free.

2. Which Plans can I apply for and/or purchase cover for Pre-existing Medical Conditions?

- Annual Multi-Trip
You cannot apply for or purchase cover for certain Pre-existing Medical Conditions under the following :
- Eastern Grey Cover
Only the Pre-existing Medical Conditions listed under Step 2 are covered under Eastern Grey Cover (unless hospitalisation has occurred), as well as certain conditions listed under the "Pregnancy" heading.

7. How long does a manual application for Pre-existing Medical Conditions Cover take to be assessed?
A manual assessment of your Pre-existing Medical Condition[s] will take around 24 hrs to turn around.

8. How long are the results of a manual Pre-existing Medical Conditions assessment valid?
The result of a manual Pre-existing Medical Conditions assessment is valid for up to 30 days from the issue date unless your medical circumstances change. If you do not purchase your travel insurance policy within those 30 days, then you will have to go through the manual assessment process all over again.

9.How long is my doctor's signature valid for on a medical declaration form?
Your doctor's signature is valid for up to 90 days on your Medical Declaration Form unless your medical circumstances change. You must submit this form to us within this time frame otherwise you would need to get a new declaration. If you change your travel plans you may need a new doctor certificate.

10. How much does it cost to add cover for my Pre-existing Medical Condition to my travel insurance policy?
You will need to do a quote for the travel you are looking to do in order for us to correctly calculate any extra pre-existing medical condition premiums. Call us on 1300 881 994 for more information.

11. Do I have to pay an additional premium for each Pre-existing Medical Condition I have, or is it just one set price?
It is just one set price. A person with three approved Pre-existing Medical Conditions will pay the same as someone with only one approved Pre-existing Medical Condition. You do not need to pay an additional premium for each one of them.

12. I have an Annual Multi-Trip policy. Do I need to submit a Medical Declaration Form for each new journey?
No. You pay the additional premium for your Pre-existing Medical Condition[s] for the 12 month period. You only need to submit a new Medical Declaration Form when it comes time to renew your Annual Multi-Trip policy. You do not need to tell us when you are travelling over the period of the annual policy either. Please refer to the Policy Wording for full terms and conditions.

13. What happens if I purchase a travel insurance policy with you and a new medical condition develops? Would I need to pay an additional premium?
If you have already purchased your travel insurance policy then any new medical condition that arises after that date is not considered a PE condition and you would not need to pay any loading. That said, you would need to obtain a letter from your doctor saying that you are fit to travel and that you had not had any symptoms before the date you purchase your travel insurance.
Please note that all conditions listed under the heading "No cover for medical expenses, cancellation costs or additional expenses" on page 27 of the PDS, as well as the conditions listed under Step 1 on pages 28 and 29 of the PDS click here are still excluded.
